During 6th-8th March 2009 twenty nine classmates of the First Batch of Agricultural Engineering (1962-66) gathered at their Alma Mater after 43 years of graduation. We were honoured by the presence of Vice Chancellor Dr B S Bisht in all important events. The get-together was also blessed by the presence of our two teachers, Prof M M Mehta and Prof H S Chauhan. A few pictures are attached.
On 6th March evening all classmates visited their room in Patel Bhawan (Hostel # 5) and got lost in memories of good old days. The dinner in the cafeteria with the Vice Chancellor and Mrs Bisht, Dr M P Singh, Dean CT, faculty members and students was a real home coming for all of us. The meeting in the Common Room of the Hostel was full of positives as short presentations by many had very valuable messages based on their life long experiences.
On 7th March visit to Old CT building was truly a revisit to a temple of learning where foundation of our careers was laid. We recollected good and hard times (unannounced quiz, hourly, mid-term.....). Interactions with faculty, administration and students reminded us that most challenges are the same as in sixties, but opportunities are many more now. High tea at Tarai Bhawan was really high event as the First Batch promised to raise funds for a merit scholarship. Most of the classmates had not been to Tarai Bhawan compound before (they did not dare to go there as it was out of bounds for students in sixties). A visit through gardens of Tarai Bhawan guided by Dr Bisht personally was a refreshing treat.
The function in the evening of 7th March was to pay respect to our beloved teachers who also acted as guardians at this far away place in jungle which shaped our destinies. We will always be indebted to our dedicated teachers. Birthday cake of Prof M M Mehta made the evening function real sweet.
On 8th March morning most of us departed with very sweet memories with promises to keep in touch and be available to help each other as and when needed.
As the University will celebrate its 50th Anniversary during 2010 and College of Technology during 2012 many of us look forward to participate in these happy celebrations.
We all would like to thank Dr B S Bisht, Dr K K Singh, Director Admnistration, Dr M P Singh, Dr Jayant Singh. Mr Bhushan Pal Singh and his team of 23 volunteers from Alumni Cell of CT, Mohan Singh and his staff at Lambert Square and other guest houses who made our stay at our Alma mater most comfortable and memorable.
With kindest regards,
Gajendra Singh
